Well the vehicle was put in the container on Thursday and there is not much space - they told Martin that he won't fit in to drive it out in Cape Town so he has to keep me 'slim and trim'! Looks like I will be the one to squeeze into the container and drive it out when we arrive in January!

The ship was due to leave the UK today, so vehicle and contents now on the way to Cape Town. They should arrive around 8th - 10th January which is a few days before us.

Kym thanks for the message and yes it worked perfectly. By the way I think that anyone can click on the comments and see the messages - just to let you all know. When you do leave a message it might be best if you click on the latest comments i.e. tocdays one as after a while some of the blog will not show up, but can be retrieved from the history.

Well had better get some lunch now love to all from us xx.

Monday 15 December 2008

Well with Christmas coming and everything and everyone so busy our vehicle will be leaving the UK later than we thought, but that is fine as it means that it will only arrive a few days before we do now. We will be able to be there when they unlock the container which means (hopefully) nothing stolen!

Martin had a crash course on servicing the vehicle today and things that can and may go wrong and of course how to fix it all! My hero will be able to fix anything now so as they say in Kenya 'hakuna matata'!

Mum and Colin thanks for your message and yes it worked perfectly.

Well I got the proposed itinerary through for Angola today and it looks great! We will look it over tonight after dinner (duck for dinner by the way).

Will get some more photos of the inside of the vehicle to put up soon.

Finally we have got a couple of photos of the vehicle for you all to see!

Tuesday 9 December 2008

Well sorry didn't get a chance to take any photos of the vehicle before it got dark today! It's only 4.15pm and almost completely black outside. I will try and get them on tomorrow.

Martin got the roller roof lined with foam sheeting today so that it doesn't make as much noise which is great - should be able to hear our selves think now!

I have been trying to arrange our flights which are a little messy as I will be flying to OZ and then NZ at the same time as Martin flies to UK. Hope to have them sorted out pretty soon.

Well not much else is happening at this stage will try and get the photos on tomorrow.

Monday 8 December 2008

For those of you who don't know, Martin & Dee are off on their 'big adventure' to Africa on 12 January 2009. The vehicle is being shipped to Cape Town 18 December 2008. We will have about a week with friends in Cape Town before starting out on our trek!

South Africa will be around 40 nights before heading into the Tuli Block of Botswana. On about 17 April 2009 Martin will fly back to the UK whilst Dee will fly to OZ for big sisters 50th party and then on home to NZ. We will then meet up again in Jo'burg on around 11 May 2009 and fly back to Botswana.

So first length will be around 3 months and then second length will be about 4 months before heading back to the UK for about 4 months. I will put some photos of the vehicle and us tomorrow.
Testing the new blog out!!
